Welcome to the website of the Communication, Speech and Performance Teachers Incorporation. The CSPT Inc. (formerly known as the Speech and Drama Teachers’ Association of Queensland Inc.; SDTAQ Inc.) prides itself on being the largest professional association for teachers of communication, speech and performance in Australia.
We have members from a range of backgrounds (metropolitan, regional and rural, throughout Queensland and interstate) and from a gamut of teaching situations (private studio, within the classroom or a mix of both). Many of our members teach one-to-one but students are also taught in small and large groups. Teaching foci include communication, speech clarity, voice production, public speaking, drama, text interpretation and performance to name a few. The diversity of our members’ interests and practices is valued and is a valuable offering to students.
This website aims to provide:
- general information about the CSPT Inc. and its activities
- access for members to teaching and learning resources and publications
- a means for members to interact and exchange ideas about effective teaching practices
- a Teacher Directory of members who wish to be referred for teaching and/or adjudicating
The site is one way for the CSPT Inc. to advance its main objective; to foster excellence in the teaching and learning of Communication, Speech and Performance. I trust you will find this site informative and useful.
Honorary President, CSPT Inc.
In this digital age, any medium that aims to enhance meaningful communication between human beings is to be valued. A considerable amount of professional development is now conducted online and, increasingly, teachers and students are finding the internet to be a valuable resource in complementing print texts and traditional media.
By establishing and maintaining this website, the Communication, Speech and Performance Teachers Inc. is demonstrating a willingness to embrace technology in support of the face-to-face interaction that is so important in activities as diverse as public speaking, reading or reciting poetry, and theatrical performance.
I commend this website and other services provided to members of the CSPT Inc.
In so doing, I applaud the Association’s vision and the enterprise of the Management Committee.
Patron, CSPT Inc.
